iCivics Welcomes Executive Director Louise Dubé

Today, we are excited to announce the appointment of Louise Dubé as Executive Director. A leader in the education technology industry, Louise brings over 20 years of experience in learning design, product development, marketing and distribution strategy to iCivics. Louise will succeed co-founder and former Executive Director Jeff Curley, who is returning to graduate school and will join the iCivics advisory board.

Since our launch in 2010, iCivics has empowered teachers with engaging and effective resources to educate the next generation of citizens. iCivics resources have been recognized for their effectiveness and innovation with accolades from, among others, the American Library Association and Common Sense Media. These early successes have enabled iCivics to broaden its impact nationally and deliver long-term value to millions of students throughout the U.S. Our team now supports more than 60,000 teachers annually – half of all public middle school social studies teachers in the U.S.

Louise has significant experience in growing organizations in educational technology and digital media. Most recently, she was the Managing Director of Digital Learning at WGBH. At WGBH, Louise helped launch PBS LearningMedia, a platform with over 87,000 classroom-ready digital resources reaching 1.5 million educators. Previously, as President of Pangea Tools, Louise led an educational software start-up with 60 staff that was successfully acquired by Houghton Mifflin. She has held executive positions at Time To Know, Scientific Learning and Soliloquy Learning and holds a law degree from McGill University as well as an MBA from Yale.

Louise will oversee iCivics’ strategic direction, development, operations, and collaborations among a diverse network of partners including BrainPOP, GlassLab, Electronic Arts, National Geographic, and others.
